According to a new report by the BBC, the online GP service, ‘GP at Hand’ has been criticised by the Advertising Standards Authority for a misleading lack of clarity in the advertisements it has been running on the London Underground.

Apparently offering 24-hour access to a GP within minutes, the advertisements have been judged not to make clear that, in fact, a registration process with the service may take up to three weeks and that patients can only access the service when they live within specific areas.

Concerns have been expressed as to the impact of this service on the availability of GPs within the existing GP practice network and the ability of the service to respond to the needs of complex patients.
