On 18 June, Laura Merry had the pleasure of attending the latest Bristol Rehabilitation and Independence Network (BRAIN) event in Bristol, bringing together professionals and organisations dedicated to supporting individuals affected by brain injury.

The evening began with an introduction to the Bristol Brain Injury Café, a peer support group for people living with brain injuries. The group meets monthly at Windmill Hill City Farm, where attendees can share experiences and socialise.

This was followed by an insightful presentation from the Chief Executives of Headway Bristol, Headway Swindon and Headway Bath. The speakers highlighted the important work and the services they offer to help support individuals living with brain injuries, as well as their families and carers.

The presentation showcased the invaluable services provided by the charities. It was encouraging to learn about the ongoing development of these services, while also recognising the challenges charities face in securing funding.

An interactive session followed along with a thoughtful discussion around how best to achieve meaningful engagement in treatment, rehabilitation and within the context of a legal claim for compensation.

The evening concluded with a networking session. The event was well attended, with a diverse audience contributing to lively and engaging discussions throughout the evening. We look forward to attending the next BRAIN event in September.
