{"id":460,"date":"2015-04-05T08:25:31","date_gmt":"2015-04-05T07:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.glynns.co.uk\/blog\/?p=460"},"modified":"2015-03-20T09:32:00","modified_gmt":"2015-03-20T09:32:00","slug":"another-nhs-trust-is-put-into-special-measures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glynns.co.uk\/blog\/another-nhs-trust-is-put-into-special-measures\/","title":{"rendered":"Another NHS Trust Is Put Into Special Measures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another NHS Trust has been put into special measures after a damning assessment of Whipps Cross Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>During routine investigations, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) identified a number of serious concerns at Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone.<\/p>\n<p>These have been detailed in a report and include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Insufficient staffing levels to provide safe care<\/li>\n<li>High use of agency staff and low staff morale<\/li>\n<li>A persisting culture of bullying and harassment<\/li>\n<li>Bed occupancy that is too high<\/li>\n<li>A failure to meet national waiting time targets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Consequently Barts Health NHS Trust, which runs Whipps Cross hospital, has been put into special measures. The Trust will now receive external help to raise its standards.<\/p>\n<p><b>Barts Health NHS Trust<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As the largest NHS Trust in England, Barts Health NHS Trust is responsible for the following six hospitals across east London:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>St Bartholomew\u2019s Hospital in the City<\/li>\n<li>The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel<\/li>\n<li>The London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green<\/li>\n<li>Newham University Hospital in Plaistow<\/li>\n<li>Mile End Hospital<\/li>\n<li>Whipps Cross Hospital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Trust chief executive Peter Morris said: \u201cWe are very sorry for the failings identified by the CQC in some of our services at Whipps Cross and we know the Trust has a big challenge ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMuch has been done but we recognise that more needs to be done.
