The NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA) has revealed the percentage of clinical negligence claims that arose last year according to medical specialism.<\/p>\n

The NHSLA\u2019s Report and Accounts 2013\/2014 shows the number of claims received in 2013\/2014 can be broken down as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. 15% – Orthopaedic surgery<\/li>\n
  2. 12% – Casualty\/A&E<\/li>\n
  3. 11% – General surgery<\/li>\n
  4. 11% – Obstetrics<\/li>\n
  5. 6% – Gynaecology<\/li>\n
  6. 6% – General medicine<\/li>\n
  7. 3% – Radiology<\/li>\n
  8. 2% – Urology<\/li>\n
  9. 2% – Paediatrics<\/li>\n
  10. 2% – Psychiatry\/mental health<\/li>\n
  11. 30% – Other (aggregated specialities)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The NHSLA also revealed the value of claims received in 2013\/2014 according to medical specialism:<\/p>\n
