The BBC has reported the occurrence of a healthcare \u2018never event\u2019 at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in May of this year.<\/p>\n

NHS \u2018never events\u2019 are errors in the course of healthcare provision which should never occur such as the misadministration of medication, a procedure being carried out to the wrong site or, on some occasions, the wrong patient, or accidentally leaving a piece of surgical equipment inside a patient following a procedure. <\/p>\n

The NHS publishes its \u2018never events\u2019 on an annual basis.<\/p>\n

In this particular incident, a patient was apparently given an incorrect size of prosthetic during a procedure but it is not currently clear what form of prosthetic this referred to.<\/p>\n

\u2018Never events\u2019 in healthcare can cause lasting and life-changing damage to the patient. Where this occurs, it may be appropriate to make a claim for compensation.<\/p>\n
