The death of a man at Milton Keynes University Hospital has been attributed by the coroner in part to a lack of staff in the Accident and Emergency facility.<\/p>\n

According to the BBC, the coroner observed that the, \u201clives of the citizens of Milton Keynes are being put at risk and the problem should be addressed as a matter of emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hospital has been issued with a \u2018Prevention of Future Deaths\u2019 report, requiring that they take action to address the problem.<\/p>\n

Staffing shortages within the NHS remain at high levels, threatening the quality of patient care.<\/p>\n

Last month Cancer Research UK reported that staff shortages in the NHS are contributing to delays in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The charity estimated that over 100,000 people could have received an earlier diagnosis had staffing levels been more appropriate to the needs of the health service.<\/p>\n
