New research by Breast Cancer Care has revealed that 72% of NHS trusts are failing to provide dedicated breast cancer nurses according to the BBC. This is despite a government promise that, by 2020, all cancer patients should have a specialist cancer nurse.<\/p>\n
The chief executive of Breast Cancer Care is reported as saying that a specialist nurse is \u201cthe single most important aspect of care\u201d for people who have been diagnosed as suffering with incurable cancer.<\/p>\n
She further commented that, \u201cwe are calling on the government to create a secondary support package for incurable breast cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the BBC, approximately 11,500 women die from secondary breast cancer each year in the UK.<\/p>\n
