In April of this year, the BBC revealed that the Care Quality Commission had recommended placing Kettering General Hospital in special measures due to a number of services provided by the hospital \u2013 including maternity, surgery and outpatients – being found to be inadequate or requiring improvement.<\/p>\n
Now further revelations suggest that waiting times at the hospital have been manipulated in order to avoid missing government targets. <\/p>\n
Whistleblower, David Phelan, a hospital trust governor, has claimed that patients who have had to wait more than a year for procedures have been deliberately excluded from waiting times figures. According to an investigation undertaken by the BBC, the actual number of patients waiting more than a year might be in the thousands.<\/p>\n
Investigations have further discovered that over 100 patients have suffered harm due to the extended delay in undergoing necessary procedures, including one patient who has suffered significant loss of sight.<\/p>\n
According to The Times, police are currently considering whether to begin a formal investigation into the allegations.<\/p>\n
